PROCESSING OF POLYMERS AND COMPOSITES
The object of the study is a tinting varnish for wood based on a styrene-acrylic dispersion, intended for interior finishing work. The final composition of the varnish was developed through step-bystep adjustment of the recipe, taking into account the test results. The finished product is tinted in seven colour options using aqueous pigment pastes.
The work is devoted to the investigation of the influence of functional additives coalescents and plasticizers of different chemical nature on the technological and performance properties of water-dispersion acrylic floor enamel. A selection of optimal combinations of coalescents and plasticizers was carried out to ensure the required complex of physical and mechanical characteristics of the coating. It was established that the combined introduction of a coalescent and a plasticizer is necessary for the formation of a high-quality film.
This paper presents the results of work on the development of modern fluoropolymer materials intended for the production of protective coatings for engineering, architectural, and restoration applications. The applied coating processes based on powder and solvent-based compositions are described. Potential applications of fluoropolymer coatings are studied based on laboratory and field testing. The challenges of creating effective anti-corrosion and anti-icing coatings are considered. Information is provided on the potential application of fluoropolymers in various industries for the creation of durable coatings.
CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIES
A series of experiments were conducted aimed at obtaining stable aqueous systems packaged in an aerosol can. The optimal types and concentrations of polymer dispersion, propellants, surfactants, and anti-corrosion additives were determined. The conditions for loading the components were proposed, and the stability of the resulting dispersions was studied.
TEST METHODS
An approach is proposed for assessing the condition of paint coatings on the surface of KMKU-2m.120 carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer after 8 and 13 years of natural climatic aging in the coastal atmosphere of Gelendzhik. The method combines one-sided moisture exposure with impedance measurements in a two-electrode dry cell. Coatings based on VE-46 and AS-1115 enamels were studied. Moisture uptake kinetics, electrical capacitance, and leakage resistance were analyzed. The obtained dependences show that the dry impedance cell is sensitive to changes in the barrier properties of the coating without immersing the specimen in an electrolyte and can be used as an additional nondestructive method for monitoring coatings on electrically conductive polymer composites.
