Resistance of polymer coatings to contamination, stains and discoloration of their surface during operation: mechanisms of contamination and methods of increasing resistance to them

Abstract

The review is devoted to the issues of resistance of polymer coatings to the formation of impurities, stains and changes in their original color on their surface, which is one of the key indicators of the operational efficiency of paint coatings. The mechanisms of the formation of stains and impurities are generalized and analyzed. Standards for assessing contamination on the surface of coatings are given. The factors influencing the resistance to contamination, including film-forming substances, additives, as well as the volume concentration of pigments, surface morphology, etc. are considered.
